The Festival takes place in Dortmund. The address is: Rheinlanddamm 200, 44139 Dortmund.

Arriving by car

Direct connection via the B1 (A40) to motorways A1 (Hansalinie), A45 (Sauerlandlinie), A2 (Berlin – Hanover – Dortmund – Oberhausen), A42 (Duisburg – Dortmund), B1 (A44) (Dortmund – Kassel).

Follow the signs to Dortmund. The Westfalenhallen is signposted on the motorway. For more details, see motorway map.

Parking facilities for approx. 8,800 cars and buses are available in the immediate vicinity. The parking fee per car is € 7 on all parking areas. www.westfalenhallen.de

Accessibility of halls

The whole of Westfalenhallen Dortmund is wheelchair-accessible. Halls 4 to 8 are interconnected and on ground level. The upper halls (2, 2U, 2N, 3A, 3B) can be reached by lift. Barrier-free sanitary facilities are available in all halls.

Wheelchair service

Wheelchairs can be borrowed from the porter against payment of a deposit. (Remember that only a small number of wheelchairs are available.)

Sanitary facilities

Toilets for the disabled are located in the entrance area of Messe-Forum and in the entrance to Messe West.

BrandEx Award: Participation and submissions

Any person involved in a project (client, agency, partner, etc.) may submit an entry, stating that he/she is the owner of the concept, provided that he/she holds the rights of use and exploitation or has had these rights transferred to him/her.

Projects must have taken place between 1 January 2022 and 31 August 2023.
The deadline for submission is 31 August 2023 23:59!
Submissions can be made in either German or English.

The submission takes place online. The submission tool is open for you from now until 23:59 on 31 August 2023. You can download the necessary tender documents and submission components for the respective category HERE.

No, you can work on a submission over a period of several days. Just make sure that you save entries after each step. Online sessions automatically end after 30-45 minutes, depending on browser, so it is advisable to write texts for the concept guidelines beforehand in offline mode and then copy and paste them into the form. The permissible number of characters (see checklists and lists in the download section on the right) includes spacing but excludes paragraphs.

Participants can compete for the coveted trophies in a total of 18 categories at the international BrandEx Award.
Entries are possible in the main segments “EVENT”, “ARCHITECTURE” and “FRESH”.

For the “EVENT” segment, the categories “Best Brand Activation”, “Best Live PR”, “Best Motivation/Employee Event”, “Best Corporate Event”, “Best Conference”, “Best Digital”, “Best Execution” and “Best Formats” have been defined.

The “ARCHITECTURE” segment is divided into the categories “Best Stand”, “Best Brand Architecture”, “Best Thematic Exhibition”, “Best Store Concept”, “Best Digital”, “Best Execution” and “Best Formats”. In the “Best Stand” segment, participants can submit their entries in the formats “S”, “M” and “L” according to the size of the project.

There is also the BrandEx FRESH Award for young talents.

All live marketing measures (such as trade fairs, exhibitions, events, PR measures, digital campaigns – also partial aspects) can be submitted.

Yes, a project can be submitted multiple times in the main categories, but only 1x per subcategory.

There are 3 submission levels! The participation fee is:

1st stage | Until 31 August 2023 >> 250.00 EUR (incl. a ticket for BrandEx Insight).
This 1st stage is free of charge for fwd: members.

2nd stage | Until 27 October 2023 >> 480.00 EUR
No discount for fwd: members.

3rd stage | Jury determines the winners

In case of a win (3rd stage) additional fees of 1.450,-€ plus VAT will be charged (including a combination ticket BrandEx Insight & Award Ceremony).

Submissions for the BrandEx FRESH Award are free of charge!

After sending the data (in the submission tool), changes of any kind can only be made by the BrandEx team and are subject to a charge!

For complex changes (exchange of films or regrouping into other categories) we charge 90,- € plus VAT and for minor changes (exchange of images, textual adjustments) 50,- € plus VAT.

Remember that the uploaded film will be shown online on our website and on YouTube over a longer period of time. If you are nominated, it will also be shown at the Awards ceremony. Either use material that is not subject to GEMA conditions or register music accordingly. The costs must be covered by the entrants.

BrandEx FRESH Award: Participation and submissions

The BrandEx Fresh Award honours the work of young talents in the industry.
For this purpose, works can be submitted free of charge in two categories on the basis of a briefing.

The BrandEx FRESH Award is the young talent award for the live communication industry.
It is primarily aimed at students, young freelancers and juniors from agencies and companies.

BrandEx Award: Jury and Judging

The interdisciplinary jury meets in Oktober and is made up of customers, agency representatives, architects, trade fair design and construction companies and other industry specialists.

The jury evaluates according to: Creativity and implementation success. Main criteria are: Creation, realisation and sustainability.

Sustainability plays an important role in the evaluation of the BrandEx Award submissions in all categories!
With an average of 20 % of the evaluation criteria, social, economic and ecological aspects are taken into account by the jury. Among other things, care is taken to ensure that resources are used responsibly and that values such as participation and dignity are integrated for all participants.

Gold, silver and bronze prizes will be awarded in the main categories ARCHITECTURE and EVENT.
However, the 2024 awards will NOT be based on the Olympic principle, but on a points system.
All winners will also receive certificates for themselves and their clients/partners, as specified in the entry form.

After the jury meetings, all entrants will be notified whether they have won a prize.
However, all winners will only find out their ranking at the BrandEx Award Show on 17 January 2024.
