Concept Summary
Nurturing Tomorrow” is the guiding idea of the EU Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka, reflecting the shared belief of the EU and Japan that collaboration, care, and creativity can help a better and safer world to flourish. The pavilion brings this vision to life as an open, optimistic, and human-centered space where harmony, innovation, and empathy take root.
Guided by the values of the New European Bauhaus, the project goes beyond being a temporary stand. It is a spatial narrative or better: a living brand experience that translates complex EU objectives into tangible, memorable encounters. Architecture, scenography, digital storytelling, and interactivity merge into one holistic design.
Visitors enter a lush yet cultivated environment that feels like an outdoor terrace — open, light, and connected to nature through generous planting. Soft textile curtains, gentle color gradients, mirrored surfaces, and a soundscape inspired by nature create a calm yet dynamic atmosphere. An earthy forest scent and daylight-like illumination complete the multi-sensory experience. A tactile guide for the visually impaired underscores the inclusive approach.
Interactive installations blur the boundaries between physical and digital space, allowing visitors to explore EU initiatives playfully and intuitively. Sustainability shapes every aspect of the project: natural and circular materials such as bamboo, cork, coffee grounds, and paper define the architecture. Wherever possible, components were rented and returned to the market.
Realised with minimal resource consumption, the EU Pavilion nurtures not only ideas, but a sustainable tomorrow.
