Janssen Open House 2020
Best Conference, Event
The Janssen Open House, organized by the research-based pharmaceutical company Janssen-Cilag, is a platform where stakeholders from all areas of the healthcare system can network and discuss the future of the healthcare system. In 2020, the Janssen Open House took place for the third time - for the first time purely virtually due to the pandemic. In spite of this, a dramaturgy that balanced information, discussion and entertainment succeeded in staging a very interactive and personal event that fully lived up to the claim of an "Open House". Due to the pandemic, neither participants nor employees were allowed to enter the Janssen campus. The image of the empty campus was deliberately staged and chosen as the setting and broadcast center for the digital event. The moderator, Carl, sets out to explore the abandoned Janssen Campus. Alone. He meets various protagonists on screens, captures exciting perspectives, interacts with the audience and gathers valuable insights that, bundled together, offer new approaches for improving the healthcare system. The online audience is his constant companion. He is always interacting with participants, asking for feedback, inviting playful responses, and actively engaging them in discussions. A special digital platform allows for a complex collection and clustering of the co-created content. The campus is his stage, from which he switches to different backdrops. Different camera perspectives, light settings as well as cinematic music are used. Scenic moments and changing scenery give the whole an associative context and make the event seem informative, interactive and entertaining at the same time.
