Prof. Dr. Bernd Schabbing

I take part in the BrandEx Award jury because the submitted entries always inspire me and show the range of conceivable, possible and effective event marketing in many different ways.

Prof. Dr. Bernd Schabbing is a certified quality coach and has been Professor of Tourism and Event Management at the International School of Management (ISM) Dortmund since 2011. Since 2013 also head of the B.A. program “International Tourism & Event Management” across all 7 ISM campuses and since 2014 speaker of the “Quality Circle Event Studies” (QZVE).

He has also been working as a management consultant since 2008 and has a close link with practice to this day, including 2017-20 part-time managing director of Bad Karlshafen Gesellschaft für Standort und Marketing (city tourism, city marketing and operation of the Weser-Therme with approx. 110 MA and € 4.5 million annual turnover, also 2018-19 concept and implementation of the “Baustellen-ERLEBNIS program for Europe’s largest baroque harbor construction site), 2016-19 consultant in the Cty funding program INGEplus of the state of Hesse. Prior to university career until 2009, various specialist and management positions in tourism city and regional marketing as well as in business development and location marketing (including in Münster, Lübeck and Teutoburger Wald). Studies at the WWU Münster, the University of HH as well as the HfM Hamburg (diploma postgraduate course in cultural management).
