Visitors with disabilities: too much work or a target group?

Martina Gollner & Christina Riedler | FullAccess Event Services OG, Raúl Krauthausen | SOZIALHELDEN e.V., Mareike Lüdtke | Deutscher Evangelischer Kirchentag 2019 Dortmund, moderator: Anja Backhaus

Stage: KEYNOTE LOUNGE 1
Format: Talk
Track: Cultural Change

When you assume that 20% of the population has a disability – visible or invisible – why isn’t this potential target group recognised by event organisers? This issue will be discussed by organisers, service providers and people with disabilities.

Profile
A native of the Austrian state of Styria, Martina is a graduate of FH Campus Wien, one of the country’s largest universities of applied sciences, where she studied social work. In 2016, together with her schoolmate Christina Riedler, she founded the social start-up ‘FullAccess’.  The Vienna-based consulting and communications agency specialises in the customer group of people with disabilities and offers event organisers such as the Danube Island Festival in Vienna, appropriate, diversity-sensitive solutions to the needs of this neglected client group.
Apart from her specialist expertise as a social worker in the field of disability, Gollner, who has been severely visually impaired since birth, knows from experience how daunting attending events can be for people with disabilities.
